Matthan gave the gene to Jacob. 16 Jacob gave the gene to Joseph, the man53 of Mary, out of whom was born Jesus, the One being called Christ. 17 So all the generations from Abraham to David were fourteen generations, and from David until the resettlement to Babylon fourteen generations, and from the resettlement to Babylon to the Christ fourteen generations.
18 Of Jesus Christ the genesis thus has been. Mary, his mother, was engaged to Joseph. Before coming together54 them, it was discovered in belly55 she is having56 out of the Holy Spirit. 19 Joseph, her man, being righteous and not willing57 her to expose, wills to untie58 her away latently59. 20 At this his impassioning60, behold, an angel of the Lord in a dream appeared to him, saying, Joseph, son of David, not you should fear to receive Mary as your woman61, because what is it in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will bear a son, and you will call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins. 22 This whole62 became63 to fulfill what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet64, saying, 23 Behold, the virgin will have65 in belly and will bear a son, and they will call his name Immanuel66, which is translated, with us God67. 24 When Joseph woke up from his sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord had prescribed68 him and received his woman, 25 and knew her not until she brought forth a son, and he called his name Jesus.


1 In the original, Βίβλος, meaning scroll. As the word is understandable without translation, we present the Hellenism here and throughout.
2 In the original, γένεσις, which means creation, generation. Since the original word 'genesis' has become ingrained in English culture, we present it as Hellenism.
3 In the original, Ἰησοῦς; the transcription, Iesous.
4 Χριστός - Christos.
5 Δαυίδ - David.
6 Ἀβραάμ - Abraam. Abraham אַבְרָהָם in the Old Testament.
7 The word from the original ἐγέννησεν (begot) comes from γένος (birth, gene). Therefore, we translate it as: gave birth to/gave gene.
8 Ἰσαάκ - Isaak. Yitschaq יִצְחָק in OT.
9 Ἰακὼβ - Iakob. Yaaqob יַעֲקֹב in OT.
10 Ἰούδας - Ioudas. Yehudah יְהוּדָה in OT.
11 ἀδελφοὺς - brothers. "Philadelphia" translates to "brotherly love" in Greek.
12 Φαρές - Phares. Perets פֶרֶץ in OT.
13 Ζαρά - Zara. Zerach זֶרַח in OT.

57 θέλω - to will. From it, θέλημα - will. "Your will be done" (Matthew 6:10).
58 ἀπολύω = ἀπο (away) + λύω (untie).
59 In the original, λάθρᾳ.
60 ἐνθυμέομαι = ἐν (in) + θυμός (passion).
61 γυνή - a woman, wife. The word 'gyne' in English is already used as a root in 'gynecology'.
62 ὅλος - whole. And 'all' is πάντας.
63 γίνομαι - to become.
64 προφήτης.
65 In the original, conception is not mentioned, only that she will have something.
66 Ἐμμανουήλ - Emmanouel. Immanuel עִמָּנוּאֵל in OT.
67 'God with us' is more common, but in the original it is written exactly 'with us God'.
68 προστάσσω = προσ (toward) + τάσσω (to draw up in order, arrange).

Matthew 2: literal translation

1 When Jesus was born in Bethlehem 1 of Judea 2 in the days of Herod 3 the king, magi 4 from the east became near 5 in Jerusalem 6 , 2 saying, Where is the being born king of the Jews? For we saw his star in the east and go to worship 7 him. 3 When king Herod heard, he was disturbed, and all Jerusalem with him. 4 And having led together 8 all archiereis 9 and grammarians 10 of the people, he inquired of them where the Christ was to be born. 5 They said to him, In Bethlehem of Judea, for thus has it been written through the prophet: 6 And you, Bethlehem, land of Judah, are by no means least among the hegemons 11 of Judah, for out of you will go out 12 a hegumen 13 who will shepherd my people Israel. 7 Then Herod latently called the magi and inquired of them the time of the appearing star. 8 And sending them to Bethlehem, he said, Move on and search carefully for the child.
